14-19 Sept 2025:: Fluid flow and magnetic dynamos: From the laboratory to the stars and planets

A conference to be held at the Centro Stefano-Franscini,

Monte Verita, Ascona CH-6612

Sunday 14.09.2025 to Friday 19.09.2025.

Deadline:  1 July 2025 for registration and Abstract submission.

We will examine the state of research in fluid flow in natural objects and controlled laboratory experiments.
New results have recently emerged from numerical dynamos, theoretical analyses, planetary missions
to Saturn and Jupiter, solar observations and laboratory (including liquid metal) experiments.
Here we wish to bring together theoreticians, numericists and experimentalists to discuss
the frontiers of dynamo theory and fluid flows in planetary and stellar contexts.

Abstract submission is open, Registration closes 1 July 2025.

15-17 Sept 2025:: 10th International Scientific Colloquium on “Modelling for Electromagnetic Processing” (MEP 2025)

2nd Announcement and Call for Contributions

Extended Deadline for Abstract Submission May 31st 2025

Dear Colleagues,

We kindly invite you to the 10th International Scientific Colloquium on “Modelling for Electromagnetic Processing” (MEP 2025) taking place in Hannover (Germany), September 15 – 17, 2025.

Traditional international scientific colloquiums Modelling for Materials or Electromagnetic Processing were held in Riga (Latvia) and in Hannover (Germany) since 1999. The Institute of Electrotechnology of the Leibniz University Hannover is organizing the 10th colloquium on Modelling for Electromagnetic Processing.

Recent results of numerical and experimental research activities in the field of electromagnetic processing of materials will be presented by international participants from universities, research centers and industry.

Authors of selected abstracts will be invited to prepare a full paper which will be published in the peer-reviewed journal Magnetohydrodynamics or Compel without additional costs.

Please find detailed information on this website: https://www.etp.uni-hannover.de/en/mep

We are looking forward to welcoming you in Hannover.

15-17 September 2025:: Euromech colloquium n°658 “Coherent structures and instabilities in transitional and turbulent wall-bounded flows”

Euromech colloquium n°658 entitled “Coherent structures and instabilities in transitional and
turbulent wall-bounded flows” (https://658.euromech.org/),
organised by Stefania Cherubini and Jean-Christophe Robinet, to be held on 15-17 September 2025 in the sunny medieval city of Bari, Italy.

The objective of this conference is to provide an international forum for discussing
the latest developments in instability and coherent structures
computations for both transitional and fully turbulent flows.

The colloquium will bring together researchers studying the rise and
development of instability mechanisms leading to three-dimensional flow structures in
different shear flows, with the aim of trying to find some common features between
the structures triggering or sustaining turbulence in such different cases.
The deep knowledge of exact coherent structures in parallel flows, as well as
the recent possibility of performing instability analysis on complex three-dimensional
or fully turbulent flows begin to make possible the achievement of such an ambitious goal.

Main topics are:
—————-
– Modal & non modal instabilities
– Turbulence dynamics
– Receptivity, sensitivity
– Transition to turbulence
– Coherent structures
– Bifurcations and continuation methods

Important dates are:

27-30 July 2025:: iTi Conference on Turbulence XI in Bertinoro, Italy

Dear Colleague,

We are pleased to invite you to attend the iTi Conference on Turbulence XI in Bertinoro, Italy, July 27-30, 2025.
This year, the iTi conference will be combined with a one-day workshop organized by Gabriele Bellani (Università di Bologna) and Gioacchino Cafiero (Politecnico di Torino) entitled “Structure and control of wall-bounded turbulent flows” held on July 27, 2025. The aim of the workshop is to foster discussions on the latest advances and solutions for the control of turbulent boundary layers. In the spirit of iTi, the workshop promotes an interdisciplinary view of the problem including theoretical, experimental and numerical approaches. Two international keynote speakers, Marios Kotsonis (TU Delft, NL) and Peter Schmid (KAUST, Saudi Arabia) will give an overview of the current challenges and the most promising tools for the control of wall-bounded flows. Workshop attendance is optional and must be specified upon registration. Contributions to this workshop will be part of the iTi conference proceedings.
List of iTi conference key-note speakers:
Koji Fukagata (Keio University, Japan)
Susanne Horn (Coventry University, UK)
Alessandra Lanotte (CNR, Italy)
Joachim Peinke (University of Oldenburg, Germany)
Christina Vanderwel (University of Southampton, UK)
Dates and deadlines:
Abstract submission:                                      February 20, 2025 [already extended!]
Response/accepting the contribution:               March 2, 2025
Early registration for Workshop/Conference:     May 4, 2025
Late registration for Workshop/Conference:      July 26, 2025
Essential information is available on the conference website https://www.fdy.tu-darmstadt.de/iti/itihome_2.en.jsp, where also LaTeX and Word templates for the preparation of the abstracts are available. Further information for the conference proceedings will be made available very soon. In this regard, we would like to announce that we decided – after 20 years and 10 volumes of Progress in Turbulence – to switch from Springer to IOP for our conference proceedings, due to wishes of many participants to offer open access for all contributions and a timelier publication schedule.
We are very happy to welcome you in Bertinoro.
Best wishes
