    —————————–
    (from Gerd Mutschke, HZDR, Germany)

The LIMTECH Alliance, a German research initiative devoted to the research on liquid metal technologies (https://www.hzdr.de/db/Cms?pNid=2920) that is funded by the Helmholtz association of German research centres, for the second time announces the international LIMTECH Young Scientist Award to support the research in the field of liquid metal technologies and to intensify
international cooperation. Detailed subjects are, for instance, generic flow phenomena and flow control, magnetohydrodynamic flows, measurement techniques, applications in metal casting, crystal growth or energy conversion and storage, related model experiments and numerical simulations, etc.

The award is granted annually and recognizes outstanding scientific contributions made by young scientists. Candidates must be less than 40 years old.

Eligible for application are PhDs or post-docs (typically 3-4 years after completion of the thesis). Applicants must not be members of the LIMTECH alliance, and their work must not have been funded by the LIMTECH alliance.

The award consists of a certificate and is endowed with a lump sum of 2000 €.

    Next award: 2017

Nominations: from January 15 to March 15, 2017

Chair of the Award Committee: Dr. Gunter Gerbeth, HZDR, on behalf of the Steering Committee of the LIMTECH alliance.

The winner of the 2017 award will be announced at the Final Symposium of the LIMTECH alliance taking place in Dresden on Sept. 19-20, 2017, at which the winner is invited to give a lecture. LIMTECH will pay for his/her travel costs.

Submission of award nomination: Nominations can be made by individuals, mentors of individuals or institutions. Candidates may nominate themselves. The application should contain:

    • a short application letter motivating the scientific contribution made,
    • a curriculum vitae,
    • a publication record,
    • contact information of mentors supporting the application

30-05-2017: CHAOS2017

Dear Colleague,

You are kindly invited to participate and to submit an Abstract, Paper, Invited Talk and/or an Invited Session (3-6 papers) to the forthcoming Nonlinear Systems Conference titled:  10th Chaotic Modeling and Simulation International Conference (CHAOS2017, 30 May – 2 June 2017).

If you already have submitted your Abstract or your special session please ignore this message. However, you can download the Conference Poster at: www.cmsim.org .

Chaos theory is developed rapidly the last decades. With CHAOS2017 International Conference we celebrate ten years of active presence in the field via the annual conference, the proceedings and publications in books and the CMSIM Journal (www.cmsim.eu ).

We have extended the abstract submission up to January 31, 2017 to give time to sessions and special sessions and workshops organizers to collect abstracts from the contributors. New Sessions and Invited Sessions and workshops can be proposed as well.

To avoid misunderstandings, we have expanded the deadline up to 31 of January and for all the abstracts regular or contributed.

Many thanks to the Honorary Committee (Professors Giovanni Gallavotti, Gennady A. Leonov, Gheorghe Mateescu, Yves Pomeau, David Ruelle and Ferdinand Verhulst) and the Scientific Committee for their support.

In CHAOS2017 we include the next important Plenary Talks so far:

Ralph Gregor Andrzejak

Nonlinear Time Series Analysis Group, Department of Information and Communication Technologies, Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain

Applying nonlinear analysis to brain signals: From claims of chaos to clinical applications

JAUME LLIBRE

Departament de Matematiques Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona, Barcelona, Spain

ON THE REAL JACOBIAN CONJECTURE

Valentin V. Sokolov

Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics of SB RAS and Novosibirsk Technical University, Novosibirsk, Russia

Statistics of Neutron Resonance width and Random Matrix  Theory (RMT)

Ferdinand Verhulst

Institute of Mathematics, Utrecht, The Netherlands

Recurrence and diffusion in FPU chains with alternating masses

For more information please visit the conference website at: www.cmsim.org or send email to Secretariat@cmsim1.org .

Looking forward to welcome you in Barcelona for the Conference,

Wishing a Happy and Prosperous New Year,

Prof. Christos H Skiadas, Conference Co-Chair

I am also happy to introduce two new books on Chaos and Nonlinear Dynamics contributed mainly from the CHAOS Conferences participants.

  1. “The Foundations of Chaos Revisited: From Poincaré to Recent Advancements” (Christos Skiadas, Ed., Springer, May 2016). The book flyer and other information is at: http://www.springer.com/gp/book/9783319296999. The book is an outcome of the CHAOS2015 meeting in Henri Poincaré Institute in Paris (www.cmsim.org ). Some of the main contributors of chaos theory add important value to the book (David Ruelle, Ferdinand Verhulst, Giovanni Gallavotti, Pierre Coullet, Yves Pomeau, James A. Yorke, Alexander Ramm, … ).

  1. ” Handbook of Applications of Chaos Theory” (C. H. Skiadas & C. Skiadas, Eds, CRC/Taylor&Francis, 934 pages, June 2016) https://www.crcpress.com/Handbook-of-Applications-of-Chaos-Theory/Skiadas-Skiadas/9781466590434 .

This book is a joint work of a large scientific group all over the world covering a considerable part of the recent chaotic literature and related applications.
