(from Sven Eckert, Dresden, Germany)

8th International Symposium on
Ultrasonic Doppler Methods for Fluid Mechanics and Fluid Engineering (ISUD8) to be
held in Dresden (Germany, 19.-21. September 2012)

Your are cordially invited to submit your abstracts until January 31, 2012 per e-mail to

s.eckert(@)hzdr.de

Scope
The ultrasound Doppler method has been successfully established for fluid flow measurements in many scientific and industrial applications. Recent trends are the analysis of spatio-temporal and multidimensional flow structures, large-scale measurement in environmental hydraulics, studies of industrial flows such as liquid metal or multi-phase oil flows, and the development of advanced methods for in-line process-control monitoring of rheological properties in flowing food suspensions.

We invite you to submit abstracts to

Fundamental Flows
Applied Flows
Environmental Flows
Liquid Metal Flows
Flow Metering
Flow Mapping
Signal Processing and Methodology
Acoustic Characterization
Ultrasound Spectroscopy and Microscopy

31.01.2012 Submission of abstracts (1 page)
01.03.2012 Notification of acceptance and instructions for preparation of extended abstracts Registration open
01.06.2012 Submission of extended abstracts (4 pages)

(from Christian Karcher, Ilmenau, Germany)

It is my pleasure to inform that in January 2013 the Research Training Group (RTG) at TU Ilmenau, sponsored by Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG), will start to train the second generation of PhD candidates in the field of MHD, namely Lorentz Force Velocimetry and Lorentz Force Eddy Current Testing. Master students and Bachelor students that are going to finish within 2012 as well as young scientists are welcome to apply for the following open positions:

12 full-time doctoral research positions
2 scholarships for Bachelor students.

Please see the attached PDF-file (http://hydromag.eu/files/rtg2_job_advertisment.pdf) for detailed information about the job offered, payment, topics, and deadlines.

All information concerning the RTG (people, structure, projects, training program, needed application documents) is available at

Russian Conference on Magnetohydrodynamics (RMHD-2012)

Dear colleagues,

The Institute of Continuous Media Mechanics of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (ICMM UB RAS) is pleased to announce the Russian Conference on Fundamental and Applied Magnetohydrodynamics
that will be held in Perm (Russia, June 18 – 22, 2012.)

The purpose of the Conference is to revive the tradition of holding Russian Conferences on Magnetohydrodynamics and to contribute to the development of the Russian Magnetohydrodynamic community.

Scope of the conference: fundamental problems of magnetohydrodynamics, magnetohydrodynamic turbulence, astrophysical and geophysical magnetohydrodynamics, magnetic fluids, applied magnetohydrodynamics.

The official language of the conference is Russian. Papers and abstracts may be submitted in English.

The conference website is available at http://mhd.icmm.ru

Your are invited to submit your abstracts until March 1, 2012 per e-mail to mhd@icmm.ru

Best regards,

Peter Frick
